Salt toothpaste

Naturally healing, balancing and detoxifying

Heals wounds and detoxifies

Salt triggers a biological process called osmosis. Simply put, this is the movement of water from a solution where salt content is low to a solution where salt content is high in order to redress balance. This means that when you use a salt-containing toothpaste, you increase the salt content of your saliva, causing fluid from within the gums to move to the saliva often taking 'toxins' with it. It is through this osmotic action that a salt toothpaste is able to speed up wound healing, reduce inflammation and detoxify the gums.

Removes stains and balances bacteria

Both sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate are gently abrasive so they can remove stains from the teeth without scratching the enamel. Sodium bicarbonate is antibacterial against many pathogenic bacteria that live within the mouth and a study testing the antibacterial activity of toothpastes found that those salt-based toothpastes were better than those containing fluoride.

Saliva contains minerals that naturally prevent cavities

Studies have shown that people without normal salivary function have an increased risk of tooth decay. Salt increases the flow of saliva within the mouth, therefore increasing the number of minerals and protecting the teeth against bacterial acids. Salt has also been shown to alleviate the symptoms of gingivitis due to its anti-inflammatory effect.
